The start of our restaurant business dates back to when my Grandfather, Ali, first tried to grow his own food for his family in 1970. He had always wanted to be totally self-sufficient, and he figured that growing his own food would be the way to go to support his family to start.
He didn’t know the first thing about gardening, and he didn't want to buy a bunch of equipment. Plus, my grandmother thought he was funny to try. Anyway, he took the plunge and bought a mail gardening course. It was much easier than he thought, and it only took him about three weeks to get everything planted. Plus, all he needed was a shovel and some soil.
The first sprouts popped out of the ground after a few days, and before he knew it, his garden was full of fresh veggies. Good Eatin’ too! What's great is then he had an endless supply of food and more for his family then needed. My grandmother in the kitchen started thinking that they could open an inn to serve the food because she loved to cook. In the backyard was where the most beautiful mangroves grew, so they called it Blu Mangrove Inn.
To this day, we carry on the tradition of my grandfather, to serve only the most sustainable fresh vegetables, freshest seafood caught daily and only Grade A Iowa Premium Meats.
Come in, and take a seat like you are part of our family, straight to your table, you will be so glad you did.
